2 Chronicles 1:8-12 [One] night God came to Solomon and said, “Ask me for whatever you want me to give you.” Solomon said to God, “… You made me king over so many people that they are like the dust of the earth. Now give me wisdom and knowledge so that I can lead these people in the right way. No one could rule this great nation without your help.” God said to Solomon, “You have the right attitude. You did not ask for long life and riches for yourself. You did not ask for the death of your enemies. You asked for the wisdom and knowledge so that you can make the right decisions. So I will give you wisdom and knowledge, but I will also give you wealth, riches, and honour. No king who lived before you has ever had so much wealth and honour, and no king in the future will have as much wealth and honour.”

Anybody who prays will know that, rightly or wrongly, we tend to spend most of our prayer time asking God for things – lots of things. The burning question is though, are we asking Him for the right things?

If you could ask God for anything you wanted, what would you ask Him for? Your answer is important, because it’ll tell you what’s driving your life. Is it money, or recognition, or that “thing” you just saw advertised on Facebook?

While you’re pondering your answer, I’d like to share with you what a young king once asked God for …

2 Chronicles 1:7-12 [One] night God came to Solomon and said, “Ask me for whatever you want me to give you.” Solomon said to God, “… You made me king over so many people that they are like the dust of the earth. Now give me wisdom and knowledge so that I can lead these people in the right way. No one could rule this great nation without your help.”

God said to Solomon, “You have the right attitude.

So let me ask you again; if you could ask anything of God, what would you ask for? Or perhaps the better question is, “What does God want you to ask Him for?”

Figure that out … and then go and ask.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
