Do you remember when you were a teenager, how difficult those years felt. There you were, no longer a child, but not quite yet an adult. So confusing, so … misunderstood by all and sundry.

There’s nothing worse than being misunderstood; than being inside your skin, seeing things through your eyeballs, feeling the things you feel … and yet, no one else gets it! You can be surrounded by a host of well-meaning people, yet still feel desperately alone.

And that’s exactly how it is for others, when you and I fail to understand them; when we jump on them in judgement before trying our best to walk a mile in their shoes truly to comprehend what’s going on inside their skin, their head, their heart.

Yesterday, we chatted about the fact that even though God knows all things for all time, He chose to become a man, Jesus, to be tempted in every respect just as we are in order to walk a mile in our shoes.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Therefore (because He’s walked a mile in our shoes) we can approach His throne, not of judgement but of grace, not timidly, but boldly to receive mercy, to receive grace, to receive help in our hour of need. Hallelujah!

But imagine – now, just picture this – if the people in our lives could do the same with you and me. What if they knew in their heart of hearts that in coming to us they were entering a space, not of judgement but of mercy, of grace, of help?

#NoteToSelf: become a place of grace that others may enter with boldness.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
