1 Peter 1:8,9 You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a wonderful and heavenly joy that cannot be explained. Your faith has a goal, and you are reaching that goal—your salvation.

Difficult times, times of trial, can have us questioning our faith in Jesus. They can have us wondering whether He’s real, or whether we’re just deluding ourselves, hanging onto some spiritual crutch, an emotional placebo.

Anybody who loves Jesus knows that, in a sense, it’s the weirdest thing. You love Him, but you can’t see Him. And some days, you get to wondering, “Am I just imagining this? Am I going crazy here?”

If you love Jesus, then I think you’ll know what I’m talking about. How do you love someone you can’t see? Someone you’ve never met in person? Someone who you only lay hold of by faith?

And when those questions become louder and louder, the more difficult and challenging life becomes. Have you noticed? Here’s how the Apostle Peter put it, when writing to a bunch of Christians who were undergoing severe trials:

1 Peter 1:8,9 You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You can’t see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a wonderful and heavenly joy that cannot be explained. Your faith has a goal, and you are reaching that goal—your salvation.

But there’s something special that happens for everyone who believes in Jesus. He puts His Holy Spirit in you, and He touches you with His love, and He speaks to you with that quiet, still voice.

And that’s enough. You know that He’s real; that He loves you; that you love Him.

And that’s what it means to work out your salvation, to live it out, day-by-day, until that day, it will all over when you receive the prize – the salvation of your soul.

No, you’re not going crazy. That’s how it’s meant to work.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

I am glad to have Jesus in my life and so privileged. Without Him life truly is and has no meaning. To be in his family reminds me I have significance and that I am so loved. Life has dealt me blows but I am alive because of Him and I will always be grateful
