1 Corinthians 15:23,24 But everyone will be raised to life in the right order. Christ was first to be raised. Then, when Christ comes again, those who belong to him will be raised to life. Then the end will come. Christ will destroy all rulers, authorities, and powers. Then he will give the kingdom to God the Father.

The things going on in your life and mine today, here and now, are extremely powerful. In a very real sense, they define our reality. And in a very real sense, they truncate our view, from eternity … to now!

Wow. Has my view really been constrained, truncated, limited? Well, let’s think about it. How much do you focus on today, tomorrow, next week, next month – maybe even as far out as planning a holiday in six months’ time – and then, how much do you think about your eternity? I rest my case.

Although, if you don’t believe in Jesus, I’d completely understand why you wouldn’t think all that much about eternity. But if you do believe in Him, as do I, then it’s a bit of a worry if we don’t think all that much about the reality of our eternity, because the eternity we have in Jesus is mind-blowingly amazing.

One day the end will come. Either you and I are going to die, or Jesus is going to return. Then all the rulers, authorities, powers, situations, and circumstances that define today’s reality will be completely blown away. Think about that!

Then, when Christ comes again, those who belong to him will be raised to life.

If you believe in Jesus, that’s your future. That’s your reality. Don’t let the present rob you of your eager anticipation of what’s coming.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

How far into the future do you think? Eternity is a mighty long time.
