Matthew 7:7-11 Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them.

The vast majority of parents are naturally hardwired to want to bless their children. We can’t help it. Of course their disobedience interrupts the flow of blessing, because we naturally want them to learn to take responsibility, through the consequences of their mistakes.

But that issue aside, what parent doesn’t want to bless their children?

When my kids would come and ask me for something – “Dad, can you help me? Dad, can I have some money for the excursion? Dad, can you drive over to my friend’s place?” the answer was almost always a “yes”.

And even today, now that they’re all grown up, if they need a hand with something, I’m right there for them. Not because I’m anything fantastic as a father, but because that’s just what we do as parents. It’s how we’re wired.

So, why is it that we imagine that God is a scrooge? That He’s stingy with His blessings? That He doles His blessings out sparingly – A little bit to you … and a little bit to you … oh, no, none for you today, I’ve run out!

Seriously?! Is that what we think? Jesus put it like this:

Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them. (Matthew 7:7-11)

“Do any of you have a son? If he asked for bread, would you give him a rock? Or if he asked for a fish, would you give him a snake? Of course not! You people are so bad, but you still know how to give good things to your children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.

In other words, God is way more generous than even the best parent.

So how is it that we’ve developed such a low view of prayer? What’s the matter with us that somehow, we imagine that God doesn’t want to bless us? When are we finally going to start taking the incredible power of prayer seriously?

Whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

its so true we are blaming GOD for everything but we don’t think its because of him we can open our eyes the next day and be responsible for our kids and give us power to be there for each other.

I never had the pleasure of having kids, Berni. But I love children – all ages. And yes, I am trustworthy!! I don’t lie and if I do, it’s with good intention so as not to hurt someone. But if I’m honest, which I am, I will usually give the truth. Almost always. God understands the rare times I have to lie. I am forgiven by Him. I know this. God bless.
