The idea of being a servant is repugnant to most of us. The idea is almost … well, it’s demeaning in this day and age. And yet, the greatest man ever to walk this earth came to serve, not to be served. Hmm.

It doesn’t matter what you do in life, what your particular gig happens to be, it can all ultimately become rather mundane. People sometimes say to me, “Well, that can’t be true. Look at you, you’re on television and radio every day. How could that ever become mundane?”

Well, sure I love it … but you try writing and producing over 1,100 messages each year. No matter how much you enjoy it, it’s a hard slog, and amidst all that hard work it’s all too easy to allow it to become mundane.

Take the young woman who wants to become an airline steward. How glamorous, jetting around the world. But think about all those long flights, demanding passengers, time zone changes, being away from home … the same thing over and over again.

And yet, I was on a flight recently and the woman who was serving me was so obviously enjoying what she did. She noticed the people with a genuine smile instead of just throwing down a tray in front of them. It was a delight to behold, and I suspect that it all comes down to attitude.

1 Peter 4:10 God has shown you his grace in many different ways. So be good servants and use whatever gift he has given you in a way that will best serve each other.

God made each one of us with a unique gift, and when we use that gift with joy and gratitude in our hearts it’s such an incredible blessing – not just for us, but for those around us.

It comes down to attitude.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi its Vanessa here again .You know that niggling sin I was telling you about?Well I slipped up again after many years of ‘sobriety, so to say..I have been reading your devotional again and realise that I must put the Word into practise.I felt that I didn’t know enough of Gods Word and this concerned me God revealed to me that it’s not what or how much you know but it’s what you do with the knowledge that you do have. that is most importantAnd to know that regardless of our sins and faults that the price has already been paid by the shedding of innocent blood on the cross 2020 years ago.May 2021 bring new beginnings and the never ending truth that through Jesus we can have reconciliation and restoration with the Father and His Son

This is so true. I wish I could have realised it earlier in life. God has really blessed my later years because of this.
