Colossians 3:13 Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.

Without a doubt, one of the most difficult things we’re ever called by God to do is to forgive the people who hurt us, and the more they hurt us, the tougher it is to forgive.

Have you ever bitten hard into a lemon? Ooooh, the thought of it just sends a shiver down my spine, but now imagine living your whole life sucking on a lemon. What a terrible thought!

I was talking to a man recently who’d achieved some great things in his life. But then, about ten years ago, he’d had a falling out with the people in the organisation that he founded and they’d sacked him.

That would’ve been really tough, but ten years on I could still hear the bitterness in his voice – a beautiful man, but it was as though he had a cancer of unforgiveness in his soul.

Forgiveness was and remains a big deal for God.  It’s the reason that Jesus went to the Cross, so that if we’d only believe that He did it for us, we could be forgiven.

Colossians 3:13 Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.

Maybe it’s gratuitous advice, but what if it turns out that forgiveness treats the cancer in our souls?

Might I ask you today, towards whom in your life do you still harbour a sense of unforgiveness? Just picture their face. How much of your thought-time and your emotional energy do you spend ruminating over the wrong that they did to you? What impact is that having on your emotional wellbeing and the way you live your life?

If you feel that they’ve wronged you, forgive them. Forgive them because the Lord forgave you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Diana, yes forgiveness is important. But so is learning to set boundaries. I’d encourage you to listen to these two series: Learning to Set Boundaries Pt 1 and Learning to Set Boundaries Pt 2. Bless you, Berni@Christianityworks

This is very good! I don’t know why we, who are lumps of clay that need a lot of time on the Potter’s Wheel, have such a large ego and find forgiveness so hard! It certainly is the cancer of our souls, and is a very serious offense, because the Lord says that if we don’t forgive others, He cannot forgive us. Thank you!

Struggling with this in a close relationship when the actions are repeated daily. What is the practical solution to be free of this roundabout. Willing to forgive seemingly impossible to sustain. Need a word

This devotional has been hacked instead of Bernie talking it was a recording of a crowd of people before the start of a ball game.

Sincerely it’s not an easy task. The truth is that when one is hurt by someone and you want to forgive but they keep on hurting you the more making it hard to let go but increasing the anger in you.
