John 15:4,5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

It’s all too easy to believe in Jesus on the one hand, and yet to live a life detached from Him on the other. It’s as though you’re being pulled in two different directions … and eventually, something has to give.

Anyone who believes in Jesus has experienced that. You feel like a hypocrite – and indeed, you look like one too. British evangelist Smith Wigglesworth put it like this:

The reason the world is not seeing Jesus is that Christian people are not filled with Jesus. They are satisfied with attending meetings weekly, reading the Bible occasionally and praying sometimes. It is an awful thing for me to see people who profess to be Christians … lifeless, powerless and in a place where their lives are so parallel to unbelievers’ lives that it is difficult to tell which place they are in, whether in the flesh or in the Spirit.

I wonder how readily you relate to that; whether it resonates with you, even just a little bit. If so, then now is the time to do something about it. Today is the day to reconnect with Jesus, because it’s in Him that the answer lies. He put it like this:

John 15:4,5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

“Abide” is a strong word. When we allow Jesus to influence our thoughts and actions above all else, we’re like that vine that bears much fruit.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

I have recently experienced the enemies attack in regards to my job.Fortunately I had 2 Christian women praying for me at the time.I know first hand that making a stand for Jesus Christ comes at a cost.A cost to self expression or a career or family relationships.Heaven forbid it may even cost us our lives. However God has made it quite clear in his Word that those who give up their lives for His sake will not only be blessed in this life but they will be rewarded in His Kingdom to come.May you never compromise on your Christian values.

Hi Berni,
Yes I totally agree with this word for today ,I feel in my spirit that battle over flesh and spirit. In these days of the world’s culture and woke ,Christians have to decide whether they are all in or not. As Jesus said it’s going to cost us ,To follow him is to deny our flesh and the worlds standards My experience is it can be very lonely and demanding on our struggles you can only find strength in Jesus and stay in the Word of the bible .Although some churches have decided in staying political correct and not peach on the Authority of Gods Bible .
Only Reaching out to a broken world and telling them of your own story can be a witness.
Thanks Berni yours in Jesus Christ
