Hebrews 13:5 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

There are times, let’s face it, when we end up in a place, in a situation that we simply would never, ever have chosen for ourselves. You know … that place where it feels as though God has deserted us.

You may have heard me talk about a cat that I used to own. Her name was “Doggy.” Yep, I know – it’s a cool name for a cat eh?!

Every now and then, we’d go away so we’d take her to the boarding kennel. But as soon as we carried her outside the front door she’d be petrified. I guess from her perspective, we were leaving her at this strange place and walking out the door. Now, she was part of our family and we’d never have dreamed of deserting her, but she didn’t know that. Would she ever see us again? Would she ever make it back home?

Sometimes that’s how it feels in our relationship with God. He drags us out of our comfort zone because He’s doing something that we can’t possibly begin to comprehend – something that ultimately will turn out for our good, but from our perspective, it’s scary.

Yet all the time, He’d never dream of harming us, never dream of deserting us, never dream of leaving us alone.  After all, we’re part of His family aren’t we?

Deuteronomy 31:7,8 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
