The truth is that we all want our lives to go along swimmingly well, from beginning to end. And so, when troubles come our way, which they inevitably do, we end up being disappointed, because that’s not what we’d been hoping for.

Can I ask you today, what exactly are you expecting out of life? What are your hopes and dreams? What do you hope to achieve? What do you hope to gain?

Our expectations generally revolve around success – success in relationships, success at work, success in our finances and in our health and in pretty much every other sphere of our lives. To be honest, basically, we want to be healthy, wealthy and wise.

We’d like everyone to love us and always agree with us. We’d like lots of money in the bank so that we don’t have any financial pressures. We want our marriages and families to be perfect.

Oh, and by the way, a nice, sunny, warm day would be just perfect to top it all off, Lord. Yep, that’s what we’d all like today to be like, and tomorrow, and the next day and pretty much the rest of our lives.

And yet Jesus promised us that in this world we would have tribulation – trouble, trials and temptations.

John 16:33 I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world!

I wonder sometimes whether the reason that we’re disappointed with life, is because we’re expecting the whole world, and that’s something that Jesus never promised.

In this world you will have troubles.

The good news isn’t that life will be perfect. The good news is that because of Jesus, you and I can have peace, no matter what the world throws at us.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

So very true, easy to trust the lord when things aren’t too hard, but your faith is sooo tested where you really are in your heart, when things get real hard, out of any of your control, you really see how much you really, honestly trust God, and where your faith stands, if you even have any, and is tested to the max, on Gods word alone, we have to trust He is who He says He is ,and its not based on our feelings but on His tried, true and tested word. His peace and love are unchangeable. Praise His Holy name.
