Download audio fileIt’s easy sometimes to imagine that we’re not good enough or smart enough to be used by God to achieve amazing things. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Back in the day, my favourite saying used to be: it’s so hard to soar like an eagle when you’re surrounded by turkeys.
That’s because I expected everyone else to be like me. And if they weren’t, I’d write them off. Turkeys! The lot of them!
But when it all came crashing down around my ears – after all, pride always comes before the fall – it was in fact, some of those “turkeys” who helped me pick up the pieces. It was some of those “turkeys” – people whom I’d scorned and ridiculed and looked down upon – who God used to shine His light into my darkness.
God, in His infinite wisdom, sent the humble “turkeys” to save the proud “eagle”. And the more I came to know them, the more I discovered that they had something that I wanted. They weren’t stupid. They knew what I’d thought of them. But they were there for me anyway.
They had something beautiful, something I desperately needed. They had a warmth, a light and a sense of meaning and purpose.
Well, they led me to Christ and the rest, as they say, is history. But here’s my point:

Sometimes, we imagine that we’re not good enough or smart enough to be used by God to achieve amazing things.
“What, a turkey like me?” Yeah, absolutely a turkey like you! Because …
