It’s all too easy to imagine that all God’s interested in is the spiritual aspect of our lives, but that’s not true. He’s also interested in the physical, mental and emotional side of life and that’s what we’re going to discover today. Some days, life gets just so busy. You know the routine – it’s one thing after another. It happens to most of us from time to time. The last few months have been just like that for me; a kind of “purple patch” where I feel like I’ve been running at a million miles an hour. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in hard work but let’s just pull up here for a minute. Look at the wonderful world that God’s created for us. My hunch is He wants us to enjoy it.

When I’m just so busy preparing for radio and television programmes, with the administrative work and emails piling up faster than I can possibly manage … well, sometimes I start feeling overwhelmed. So I stop. Everything inside me tells me I don’t have time, but I stop anyway. Sometimes I go for a walk in the garden, or down to the café for a coffee. Other times, I’ll make a cup of tea and sit down with the dog.

I love how God’s made these simple, beautiful things for us to enjoy. And when we do – when we take time out to enjoy them – somehow He shows up with the joy and the peace that we need to get up and keep going.

Yes, by all means be focussed and work hard, but don’t keep on going until you become so muddled that you’re not effective, that your thoughts and your emotions become all confused.

1 Corinthians 14:33 God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Wow thank you, I needed to hear that, we are in lockdown in SA,I the days are so busy they just seem to flow into the next and you think you need to stay constant and busy but I heard God say be still and know I am God, so this is confirmation of that! Take care, God bless, Michelle Fenton

That is so true, working a 53 hour week doesn’t leave much time for enjoying this world. At the moment in this lockdown I’m treating it as a blessing from God time to be still and alone with him, longs walks in the countryside with my dogs and enjoying my lovely garden and all the things God has blessed me with, thankyou Bernie for showing me this passage in the bible, it is good not to feel guilty for enjoying the simple things in life. God bless and kind regards Marie Seymour 🙂
