Matthew 8:23-27 Jesus got into a boat, and his followers went with him. After the boat left the shore, a very bad storm began on the lake. The waves covered the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The followers went to him and woke him. They said, “Lord, save us! We will drown!” Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then he stood up and gave a command to the wind and the water. The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm. The men were amazed. They said, “What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the water obey him!”

None of us likes it when those inevitable life storms come our way, but they do happen, right? And when we’re in the middle of one, it more often than not feels like we’re completely alone.

Maybe you believe in Jesus. Maybe you’re even a man or woman of God’s Word and you know that in the middle of life’s storms, you’re supposed to trust in Him. Great! But let’s be perfectly honest here. When that storm is at its worst, doesn’t it feel as though He’s asleep at the wheel, that He’s making no practical difference in this terrible time? Or is it just me?!

The morning I prepared today’s message there was a massive storm raging outside my window. The weather map showed red severe warnings up and down the coast. Imagine being out on the ocean in the middle of that!! As someone once said … “Having Jesus in your boat doesn’t mean you won’t face any storms. It means that no storm can sink you boat. Walk in faith and you will never walk alone.”

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
