John 12:23-25 Jesus said to them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to receive his glory. It is a fact that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die before it can grow and produce much more wheat. If it never dies, it will never be more than a single seed. Whoever loves the life they have now will lose it. But whoever is willing to give up their life in this world will keep it. They will have eternal life.

The Cross of Christ, that brutal crucifixion, looked like the biggest defeat in all of human history. This supposed Messiah, strung up on a cross, nailed hands and feet, gasping for air, dying. But …

When you hear the word “glory” you think of some great success. An athlete winning Gold at the Olympics for instance. They get all the glory up there on the dais. Glory is about winning, about triumph, isn’t it? But …

So, not long before Jesus was to be crucified He says that the time had come for Him to be glorified. In other words, He’s pointing to that brutal Cross. An event that seemed like a massive defeat.

Does He have it the wrong way round? Glory equals defeat? Really? But Jesus went on to explain what He meant.

… a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die before it can grow and produce much more wheat. If it never dies, it will never be more than a single seed.

When you look at it that way, maybe we’re the ones who have things the wrong way round. The glory of God lay hidden in a brutal crucifixion, an apparent defeat that would save the likes of thee and me.

Glory.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Amen to the work of The Cross of King Jesus. My achillie I believe is pride. May Almighty Who Has given me all I need to live for Him in this ugly world , may He help me love Him more over myself in ignorance that leads to not loving Him enough for bringing me into His glorious kingdom. I need Strength and heart to keep forgiving just as I have been forgiven once and for all /daily. I keep getting hurt and hurt and hurt by same temptation forgetting that by that I am both hurting the one who hurt me and plus our Heavenly Father not getting the glory He deserves each time. Help me Lord and thanks for helping two thousand years ago to the end of age. Thanks Lord.
