Forgiveness is a funny thing. We all realise it’s a good idea, but when it comes to forgiving someone who’s hurt us … well, that’s quite a different matter. What about God forgiving you, forgiving me, for the things we’ve done wrong? Well?

Look, I don’t know where you are in life … whether you believe in God or not, but humour me. Let’s just assume for a moment that God is, indeed, God; that He exists, that He’s all-loving and all-powerful. Now, if this God had a plan for your life and mine, what would it look like? If He truly is our Father in Heaven, then He’d want the best for us, right?

But what does that “best” look like?

Well, for starters, I think it would have to involve His forgiveness. We’re told that, for those who believe that He sent Jesus His Son to die for their failings, He chooses to forget all the things we’ve made a mess of. In fact, He invented “forgive and forget”.

I remember coming to the point where all my “messes” had mounted up to a pretty big pile … and the consequences were weighing down all too heavily on my life. When you’re in that place, when finally you come to your senses, I guess the question you find yourself asking is this: Would God really forgive me? I mean, look at the mess I’ve made. Can I trust Him to forgive me?

I wonder whether you’ve ever found yourself wondering the same thing. If you have, then here’s the truth of the matter …

1 John 1:9 … if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Dear Berni
Hi. Good Morning.
I’ve been listening to your messages since starting at TWR Africa on the 16th of November 2020. Forgiveness is something that I’ve had to allow God to work in me over the years. Many have trespassed me in different ways, too many to mention at this point and I don’t think sharing it would be relevant to what I want to say. I just want to add that out of my own ability I wasn’t able to forgive anyone but as I got to know just how much I was forgiven by my Abba daddy and His beloved Son Jesus Christ you paid for all of my sins and is now gifting me with the overpayment of Grace daily; its become easier over the years to exercise daily forgiveness as the scripture by Paul tells us Ephesians 4:26 “that we should not let me sun go down on our anger”. There are lots of lots of marital and premarital counseling sessions that talk about this in terms of not going to bed angry. For it’s the evil one who desires to destroy our relationships with those in our families, friends and community so I’m very aware that I do not fight flesh but principalities. I love the fact that my Heavenly Father even made provision for this so that we can live a life of true freedom in His abounding Love and amazing Grace. Bless you for your remarkable devotions and inspiration to walk in Faith trusting every word spoken by God. Com todo meu carinho e amor Maria do Rosario
