Psalm 133:1-3 Oh, how wonderful, how pleasing it is when God’s people all come together as one! It is like the sweet-smelling oil that is poured over the high priest’s head, that runs down his beard flowing over his robes. It is like a gentle rain from Mount Hermon falling on Mount Zion. It is there that the Lord has promised his blessing of eternal life.

Here’s a radical thought. What if, just think about this, what if the blessing of God is all around us? What if the blessing of God is hidden right there in plain sight? What if we’re just too busy to notice it? Well?

I love telling people about God’s blessing. Not just His blessing in general but the specific blessing that He has in store for them and indeed, for you.

But more often than not, when I do that, it’s like water off a duck’s back. Instead of sinking in, it just washes off. Why is that?

Here’s what I think. We schlep through the day-to-day drudgery of life and we get so used to it, that we completely forget to expect God’s blessing. It just doesn’t occur to us that He wants to bless us and so all too often, when He comes along with a blessing, we completely miss it.

Take for instance, being part of God’s family, being in fellowship, being in relationship with other disciples of Jesus. How often do we think about the incredible blessing that that is?

God’s blessing is everywhere. It’s like a gentle rain falling on hard, dry ground. It makes everything new and fresh and soft.

God wants to bless you, just like that. And you can either ignore it and just keep on schlepping on through life, or accept it with open arms. So which will it be?

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
