Psalm 121:1,2 I look up to the hills, but where will my help really come from? My help will come from the LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth.

For each one of us there are times in life – situations, circumstances, relationships – where we simply don’t, in and of ourselves, have what it takes to get through. And it’s in those times, in those places, that we go looking for help.

All too often when we’re grasping for straws, we end up grasping the wrong one. I’ve done it, you’ve done it … and we know from experience that when we get our help from the wrong place, things just go from bad to worse.

That’s something that the psalmist knew only too well when he wrote …

Psalm 121:1,2 I look up to the hills, but where will my help really come from? My help will come from the LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth.

That whole “I look up to the hills” thing … again it’s something we’ve all done. We look off into the distance, wondering how we’re going to get through. But it’s more than that. Back in the day, idols – false gods – lived in temples. Where? Up on hilltops, of course.

Let’s be clear about this: idols in their temples were (and still are) imposters. The healthy, wealthy and wise thing that the world peddles … that’s an imposter. Success is another imposter. When things are truly dire, none of those can help us. There’s only One who can: The Lord, the creator of heaven and earth: The one true God with the power to make a difference: The one true God who loves us enough to send His Son Jesus to die to pay the price of our sins, and to rise again to give us a new – an eternal – life.

I look up to the hills, but where will my help really come from? My help will come from the LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

I learn the 121 Psalm back in 1962 when I was in the late part of the First Grade and it has stuck with me every day since. I have had many trying time throughout the years but my help from God have always saw me through. I found out when you put your faith in God hand that God will always move any mountain that may stand in your way.
