Over these last few days, we’ve been talking about what it means to be saved by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus. That’s really, really important stuff. But then what? What comes next?

And yes, it is important stuff. Really important! What scares me most are the people who have some wishy-washy kind of faith, who think they’re saved but who are going to get a rude shock on the day they stand before the throne of God in judgement.

The only way to the Father is by faith in Jesus, His Son. That’s it! But what does that faith look like? Is it a one-time thing? Yep, I believe, tick in the box, back to life? No! That’s not what God’s Word says.

Following hard on the heels of those verses about salvation that we’ve been looking at this week, comes this one:

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

God created you and saved you, because He has some good works ready and waiting for you. What sort of works? Good works. Not the old works, not that rubbish we were into before we trusted in Jesus. Good works. In other words, there’s a new life for us to live.

And if we’re not living that new life, if we’re not walking in those good works, then our faith means nothing. Elsewhere, Jesus says this:

Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter God’s kingdom. The only people who will enter are those who do what my Father in heaven wants.

Make no mistake. Faith in Jesus is NOT a one-time tick in the box. It’s a changed life. Don’t get a rude shock on judgement day.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

This fits right in my life.
On 22 August my husband and I were rushed in our own car to the Mozambique border with a driver we don’t know. I was already in a coma state when they carried me to the car. I cannot recall anything from our Lodge in Bilene to the SA side of the Ressano Garcia border. My son-in-law got an ambulance from the SA side to take us to Nelspruit Mediclinic. From there, for 70 days my mind is blank.
Covid is a sickness out of hell.
I was in cardiac arrest after the doctors said I was critical but stable. In that time, I was in a white place but could feel God’s presence. It was so calm and restful. Then I came back. I was still in a coma and a few days after that I went into cardiac arrest again but this time for a long time. My children said I was turning blue. I was in this white place again but this time Jesus was there next to me. I again had a white robe on. I could not see His face but He said He is sending me back. I have too much work still to be done here. My doctor was chosen out of God’s own hands. He didn’t stop to let me live again. I had a hole in my lung and as he touched on it, it closed. My doctor called me a miracle.
I was 74 days in ICU and 2 days in High care waiting for them to take me to rehab.
My doc visited me and said I am so strong that they decided to send me home. I had to learn to walk again and had a traggie in my throat. Praise to God. I was treated by the hospital like a queen.
Also, I had the whole world praying for me.

Yes, that is a hard hitter! But oh-so-important… Sooo important! Thank you for the reminder. Now, to take it to God in prayer, meditate on it and share it with others… the tough part. But, with God all things are possible. Thank God! Bless you, in Jesus’ name.
