1 John 1:8,9 If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.

Yesterday, we explored the difference between perfectionism and excellence. Perfectionism is excellence mixed with a not so healthy dose of arrogance and self-delusion. Not pretty. So, what’s the answer? What’s the antidote to a spirit of perfectionism?

There are two ways of doing things – the easy way or the hard way. Me? I was so full of arrogance and self-delusion, I was such a hard case, that God realised I was never going to learn humility the easy way.

So out of His great love, He chose instead to humble me, taking me right to the brink of life itself. Can I tell you … this is not something I recommend for you to try at home. Seriously! Do it the easy way, not the hard way! So, what is the easy way? Here it is:

1 John 1:8,9 If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.

The arrogance and self-delusion of believing that we’re perfect is breathtaking. And yet there are plenty of people living that out, me included, back in the day.

But, if we confess our sin, if we get real, if we open our hearts humbly before God and take responsibility for our failures and our weaknesses, then God will forgive us. In point of fact …

We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.

That right … there is the easy way. Either we humble ourselves, or God will do it for us.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thanks again Berni and the people of CW for your word for today !
I used to think if I didn’t do to much wrong and give a little money to charity , I’d get to heaven ! How wrong I was ! When I started listening to God’s Word being preached from the pulpit I felt so full of guilt for my sins ! every time that finger of disapproval was pointing at ME !! Until that day I put my ( money 💴 came up on predicted text ) , No ! put my Hope , Faith and Trust in Jesus Christ The Son Of God and got baptized !
I felt such relief and a weight came off my mind to know I hadn’t left it to late to come to this Truth and Hope !
Keep us believing in Jesus Christ , Son Of God for Ever I pray !!
Amen 🙏.
