One of the biggest challenges we face and indeed the most common excuse people have for not spending time each day with Jesus, is that we don’t have the time, or the energy. On the one hand, that sounds a bit lame, but on the other, it probably strikes pretty close to home.

So, imagine you’ve had a busy day … a real shocker. You get home, kick off your shoes, and flop down on the couch wondering how you’re ever going to get dinner together. Right then, there’s a knock at the door.

It’s Jesus. Do you invite Him in, or not?

Look, we all have stuff to do. We’re all busy in our own way, living out our lives. And it’s a grind eking out an existence, isn’t it? So you get home at night … and really, you don’t have the time or the energy to spend with Jesus. And in the morning it’s up and at it again, ready for another day of the same-old, same-old.

But there’s this huge unseen reality out there: God Himself. And He yearns to spend some time with you.

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you. And you will eat with me.

Jesus spoke those words to a church whose faith in Him, whose relationship with Him, had grown lukewarm.

His response is to knock on the door of their hearts, the door of our hearts, saying in effect “Let’s sit down and have dinner together. Let’s sit down and talk. Let’s have a relationship.”

All you and I need to do is just give Him a bit of time. That’s all.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice open the door …

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
