Romans 8:13,32 So what should we say about this? If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us. He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things.

Have there been times in your life, when you’ve really longed for something, and yet God hasn’t shown up? So let me ask you, is God stingy, or generous?

Have you ever felt that God’s holding back on you? There’s something you really want: the right marriage partner, a baby, moving on to something new in your life, whatever, but it’s just not happening. Why isn’t God giving me the breakthrough I so desperately want?

And you start thinking to yourself, “I wonder if God’s being a bit stingy with me here?” It’s so incredibly frustrating, even hurtful, when there just doesn’t seem to be a good reason for God to be holding back the blessing.

So, even though everything else in our lives may be going fantastically well, our focus narrows to just this one thing. And at that point, you lose sense of the big picture.

So let’s just stand back for a moment and take a look at the big picture.

Romans 8:13,32 So what should we say about this? If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us. He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things.

Big picture? We turned our backs on God, but because He loves us so much, He offered up the greatest thing, the most valuable thing that He had to give, His Son, as the price for bringing us back.

So, do you still thing that God is stingy? Look, He won’t always do the things we’re longing for. Sometimes He has different plans, better plans. But without doubt, He will always give you His very best.

God will surely give us all things

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Kenneth.

I’m sorry to hear you truly believe that. It is terribly hard to see God’s plan in our daily walks sometimes. Sometimes, the answers to prayers are “no” and. However, I believe that God has a plan for you. He is using you now in this world to play a part in bringing people to know Him.

As for Jesus’ death and resurrection being for you specifically: that’s a really big part of what we believe. Yes it is the grand, general, world-encompassing, glorious truth. But personal faith is what gets us into that gift we so do not deserve. He did die for everyone. But he died for you. As Kenneth Gray. In 2022. Yes, it happened 2000 years ago but God is the creator of time itself and so when His sacrifice for you happened… it happened for you.

He died for you because he wants to be in a relationship with you for all eternity. You’ve been in a relationship with God for 42 years. That’s amazing! It’s longer than me I’ve been going for just under 20 years. But eternity… what’s 42 years of silence compared to an eternity physically with God in heaven.

I don’t know what your life is like and so I can’t properly answer your question. I am simply trying to assure you that God loves you and the sacrifice of Jesus was Him loving you. If you would like to chat more just reply to this and I’ll send you an email to continue this conversation. If not that’s ok. I will be praying for you.

God Bless,
Ethan.

Hello,

Yes, I believe that God is being stingy. I have lived in poverty for my entire life. I have prayed for God to show me the way out, as the Bible indicates He will. I gave myself to God through Jesus about 42 years ago. In these many long, long, long, long years God has not responded even once. 42 years of complete silence, complete absence, and never answered prayers. I am getting tired of hearing/reading that God gave His son for me. I wasn’t alive thousands of years ago so He didn’t do it for me specifically. God sacrificed His son (Jesus) for all of mankind not for just me. Thus I can say without a doubt that God has done nothing for me (specifically). God has done nothing for just me in this life. Events from thousands of years ago have nothing to do with me in the here and now.

What has God done specifically for me?

Thanks and God bless you, in Jesus holy name, Amen.

Dear Mukarrab,
Thanks for sharing with us these observations on the character of God. However, I must take you to task when you claim that God is ‘stingy’ as this would imply that, somehow, he is miserly, selfish and lacking in generosity. This is most certainly not a true reflection of the God of the Bible. After all, he has given us his abundant creation to enjoy and he has sent his only Son, Jesus Christ to give up his life for us. Through this unselfish act, he has enabled us to be forgiven of our sins, thereby enabling us to spend eternity in heaven with him, when our time on earth is done. Nothing stingy about this!! On the contrary, how wonderfully generous is our loving God.

I imagine that, while some Christians may be ‘very rich’ to use your words, yes, they do seem to be a rarity. This is because true followers of our Lord Jesus Christ do not have wealth-building as their primary motive. Rather, they should be aiming to share their worldly wealth with those in need. The problem is that the more possessions we accumulate, the more time we need to devote to maintaining them. This puts the rich person at risk of making this the sole objective in life, a modern version of idolatry. Jesus sternly warns us against this in Matthew 6:24.

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money (mammon).

I hope these thoughts are helpful for you. You say that you ‘believe, love and respect Almighty God’ which is great to hear. However, you don’t mention whether Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour. I certainly hope that you’ve been able to devote your life to following Jesus, as it is only through faith in him that we have direct access to God and have the privilege of calling him ‘our Father’.

My best wishes,
Your brother in Christ,

John 3:36

Mukarrab Ahmad

I believe, love and respect Almighty God, but I think he is very stingy.I have never seen anyone who has accurately worshipped and followed God’s laws and is very rich.
There are people who worship Him and are rich but they do secret and nasty things.

Dear Evan,

Thanks for writing to us. I note your disappointment with God and thought you wouldn’t mind my sharing some thoughts on prayer with you.

“Prayer” is used over 130 times in the Bible which tells us just how important it is. Prayer has been defined as “a solemn request for help or an expression of thanks addressed to God ….”.

Just a couple of verses bring out God’s response to our prayers:

1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer…”

John 5:15 – “And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

The first verse above certainly assures us that God hears our prayers. The second verse is often misconstrued to the effect that we can ask for whatever we want and God will provide.

A far better interpretation is that, when we pray in God’s will, he responds to our prayers. The Lord’s prayer captures this – “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

It is only through faith in the risen Christ that we have the privilege of addressing God directly as our Father.

When we come before him, we should first of all express our adoration of him, we should seek forgiveness for our sins, give thanks for his many blessings and finally ask him for help.

Too often prayer degenerates into a shopping list of things which we want straight away. Although God hears our prayers, he does not always grant our requests which is his prerogative.

His decisions are always for our good even though we may not understand this in our times of need. We know from Romans 8:28 that God works in all things for the good of those who love him.

This has been a great comfort for Christians down the centuries, even in extreme situations.

Prayer has been described as a conversation with God. He likes to hear from us, as he loves us and cares about us deeply.

He wants us to have a relationship with him which can come only through prayer. The New Testament records Jesus as being in prayer for extended periods on his own.

It was only through prayer that he was able to complete his ministry on earth to such perfection.

You can certainly ask others to help you in times of need. We should all be ready to assist each other but God alone is our only source of lasting comfort, both in this life and in the life to come.

I hope these thoughts are helpful to you.

Evan Kirchov

I do not think God loves us or he has affection for us.
how many people God has disappointed them. How many prayers God has ignored.
I was really someone who loves god Allah, I had patience, I worked hard, I did everything for God to open only one door, unfortunately he completely ignored me along those years.
it’s hard to say, but actually I’d rather ask people than asking my beloved god, In the end you’ll end up finding someone who cares about you and who can help you.
