John 20:30,31 Jesus did many other miraculous signs that his followers saw, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you can have life through his name.

I know many a person who says that they believe in God, and yet their life falls way short of all that He promises it should be. And there’s invariably a reason for that. The reason is that they haven’t had a personal encounter with Jesus, His Son.

I wonder … when was the last time that you read a book cover to cover? Last week, last month … maybe not for a very long time.

So if you had time to read just one book, what would that book be? Of course, that’s the problem isn’t it? Who has the time? Where do you get time these days to read a whole book?!

Well, here’s a challenge for you: there’s one book that’ll take just two hours or so to read. We can all find a couple of hours, can’t we?

It’s one of sixty-six books in a collection that these days we call the Bible, and over half of those take less than a half an hour to read. No time, eh?

Anyhow, the one book that I’m talking about is John’s Gospel, the fourth book of the New Testament. It’s an account of the life and times of Jesus Christ. And it was written with a very specific purpose in mind:

John 20:30,31 Jesus did many other miraculous signs that his followers saw, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you can have life through his name.

No matter who you are or what you believe, can I encourage you to get a hold of that one book, John’s Gospel – a contemporary translation without the thee’s and thou’s in it – and have a read.

It’s a gripping yarn and you never know … while you’re reading it, He might just show up. Jesus

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
