Matthew 11:25 Then Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. I am thankful that you have hidden these things from those who are so wise and so smart. But you have shown them to people who are like little children.

I think sometimes, when it comes to the promises of God, we over-complicate things. We try to put this infinite God, into a little box where we can contain Him.

When I was a little boy, my mother used to make me soft-boiled eggs. They were my absolute favourite, but I always wanted a second one. So, when I’d finished the first, she would “magic” another egg out of thin air. How did she do that? It always blew me away.

Well, these days, I’m nudging sixty years of age and you know, I’ve finally figured it out. She used to hide the second egg in her apron! And I so believed that she was able to “magic” a soft-boiled egg out of thin air. There’s something wonderful about believing like a child. The innocence opens up a whole new world.

Then Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. I am thankful that you have hidden these things from those who are so wise and so smart. But you have shown them to people who are like little children. (Matthew 11:25)

When Jesus said that to His disciples, He knew what He was talking about. He knew that believing like a child, trusting God the way a child trusts its parents, opens up a whole new world.

The difference with Jesus, though, is that it’s not sleight of hand. It’s not a con job. This God, this Jesus is real. Very real! And when we believe in Him with the guileless candour of childhood … we can see Him for who He His. We can receive from Him the out-of-this-world blessings that He wants to pour out on our lives.

Blessings – that He’s hidden from those who over-complicate things, but revealed to those who simply believe.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Very timely indeed, Berni. This Rafael, just simply call me Bong, Whenever I feel lost, your words so carefully delivered and clear lifts up my spirit. I am at lost everyday of my life. Whenever I am asked by my bothers and sister how I have been, I simply say” Still struggling”. I struggle to be better than yesterday, make my family happy and secured,, keep my job, i think this make my boss happy and be praised (which I do not get at all… but might be wrong), make people believe in me,
I struggle each and every day. I know that all people do, but i see them enjoy. At the end of the day, I feel so tired. and then looking back I find out that I have not done so much. I just simply fall back and feel the worry. I just have been like this since I cannot remember anymore. I am 54 years old now. And what worries me is that how can I keep being like this? so, this is the time I would say to myself “I miss God”. I wish that He is someone who I can talk to and that He would answer back, just like in the Old Testament. And then I turn to Fresh and I see and feel a new perspective.

So I pray to be better. i pray that God will always guide me despite my failures and losses.

I just have nobody to talk to… so I write to you, Berni. I do not want to discuss this with my wife as she has so many worries. i tried to one time and she would just say ” Keep praying, God is always here”. I believe that too, but I just want to hear more. But I do not want to take too much of her time.

Thank you, Berni for taking this time to read this. story of my life.
