Luke 6:27-28 But I say to you people who are listening to me, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Ask God to bless the people who ask for bad things to happen to you. Pray for the people who are mean to you.

When someone treats you badly, how do you react? How do you respond to them? How do you treat them? Because, how you answer those questions, well, it matters a lot!

In a world that’s far from perfect, we all have enemies. We wish we didn’t, but we just do. So the question is then, what do you do with them?

There are several options: Détente, avoidance, passive-aggressive behaviour, a bit of judicious backstabbing here and there … right through to all-out war?

They’re all pretty common responses. But have you ever noticed how none of those ever seem to resolve anything? They don’t seem to release you from the conflict. They don’t seem to bring you that one thing you desire above all else – peace.

Jesus said some really odd things back in the day. I mean … really. And one of the strangest things he ever said, was this:

Luke 6:27-28 But I say to you people who are listening to me, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Ask God to bless the people who ask for bad things to happen to you. Pray for the people who are mean to you.

Yeah, easier said than done, eh?! But it’s amazing what happens when you start praying for your enemy. Through that prayer, God does a powerful work in your heart. He sets you free from the anger, the resentment, the pain.

Sometimes the enemy changes. Sometimes they don’t! But when you pray for your enemy … it changes you. Peace ends up breaking out in your heart; a freedom that you didn’t think was possible. And in the middle of all of that, you discover a love for your enemy that you never imagined you had in you.

Pray for the people who are mean to you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

I think that this message is so needed at this time. It is a hard lesson to learn
but so much friction is caused by people refusing to forgive others, they are
hurting themselves and it spreads to those around them.
Why do peeople become so angry when you suggest that they should forgive?

I don’t know how it works, praying for your enemies, but I know that it does. I also didn’t like a lady I worked with but I felt the LORD saying to me, you can’t change her so pray that you may change towards her and we have been friends for ages. I never thought I could like this lady but the LORD made it possible, thank you LORD. Weeks later I received a txt from her saying,”I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthen me.” She said “See, I do know some bible verses and that lady was a non believer. It’s amazing what the LORD can do, even if you don’t do much but admit you know Jesus. Thank you so much LORD. Bless you LORD for Berni. Amen.
