Revelation 3:15-17 “I know what you do. You are not hot or cold. I wish that you were hot or cold! But you are only warm—not hot, not cold. So I am ready to spit you out of my mouth. You say you are rich. You think you have become wealthy and don’t need anything. But you don’t know that you are really miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

Okay, so on a scale of zero to ten, how rich, how vibrant, how real is your relationship with Jesus right now? Come on, be honest with yourself. Where on that scale does your present-day fellowship with Jesus sit?

Have you ever tried to drink a lukewarm cup of tea? Yich!! There’s simply nothing worse. So just imagine what a “lukewarm Christian” feels like to the God who sent His Son to suffer and die for us. Just imagine …

Relationships are funny things. They start off passionately, but after a little while they become … routine … normal –  just another part of the humdrum, the white noise that fills our lives. It’s true of our relationships with people and it can also be true of our relationship with God.

So let me ask you, how is your relationship with Him right now? Vibrant … real … passionate … dynamic … or routine? Just another part of the humdrum of life?

Revelation 3:15-17 “I know what you do. You are not hot or cold. I wish that you were hot or cold! But you are only warm—not hot, not cold. So I am ready to spit you out of my mouth. You say you are rich. You think you have become wealthy and don’t need anything. But you don’t know that you are really miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

We try to wrap ourselves in the comforts of this world, and when we do, what was perhaps once a vibrant faith becomes lukewarm. Our relationship with God becomes passé.

Let me tell you something. Jesus didn’t die on that cross so that you and I could have a boring relationship with Him. And with all my heart today, I believe He wants to shake us and say – wake up!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
