Ephesians 1:3-6 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in heaven. In Christ, he chose us before the world was made. He chose us in love to be his holy people—people who could stand before him without any fault. And before the world was made, God decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. This was what God wanted, and it pleased him to do it. And this brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace. God gave that grace to us freely. He gave us that grace in Christ, the one he loves.

One of the biggest criticisms of Christianity is that it’s just a bunch of old, irrelevant rules. And who, after all, needs more rules in their life? I totally get that because that’s exactly what I used to think.

More and more these days, people are choosing to work from home. It’s something that I’ve been doing for years now.

And technology being what it is these days, in our house there are quite a few devices – computers, tablets, phones, printers – all connected to the WiFi, each one with its own network settings. And for ages, I just couldn’t get a couple of the devices to work properly.

Until one day, one of these clever “techo-people” gave me a simple bit of advice about network addressing and all of a sudden, bang, everything worked.

It’s kind of how it was for me and this whole Christianity thing, quite a few years ago now – all these rules that just didn’t work for me until someone gave me one simple bit of advice:

Ephesians 1:3-6 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in heaven. In Christ, he chose us before the world was made. He chose us in love to be his holy people—people who could stand before him without any fault. And before the world was made, God decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. This was what God wanted, and it pleased him to do it. And this brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace. God gave that grace to us freely. He gave us that grace in Christ, the one he loves.

God’s not about rules, He’s about love and grace. And in an instant, that changes everything. Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
