Sometimes, as they say, fact is stranger than fiction. And the particular story that I’m about to share with you very definitely fits that bill.

Ian Johnson was a young Australian man whose fiancé lived in the UK. One day he decided enough was enough, so he jumped on a plane and flew all the way over there to marry her.

Meantime in the UK, she too had decided that enough was enough. So … you guessed it, she hopped on a plane to fly to Australia. They passed through Singapore’s Changi airport at the same time, missing each other by just minutes in the airport lounge – true story.

Fact is indeed stranger than fiction, which is why sometimes it’s so difficult to accept.

So many people these days think they’re going to heaven. The prevailing wisdom goes something like this: I’m not such a bad person. If there is a heaven, yeah, I should be okay. But now, let’s turn to the facts.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.”

The idea that I’m good enough or Yeah, I sort of believe in Jesus I guess, so I must be in when it comes to heaven – let me be perfectly blunt about it – is pure fiction. The fact is that the only way to the Father is through an earnest, genuine faith in what Jesus did for you on that cross, by paying the price of your sin. That, after all, is what we’ll be celebrating in a few days’ time over Easter. So, have you made that life-long connection with Jesus? Or will you miss Him by “that much”?

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

My entire family has shunned me because of my faith in Jesus. They will not even allow me to show them in the Bible, for which they have never read. We were raised Roman Catholic and they don’t even know what that means. It has been a veil over their eyes that has been passed down from generations. I weep daily for them to be saved and I do believe that one day they will have their hearts of stone replaced by a heart of flesh ( Ezekiel 36:26). I have suffered greatly since I have been saved, but I have also been held so close by my Lord & Savior! He has blessed me greatly and provides for all over f my needs… even knocking me over with gifts of tangible items I have thought I would like!!! Many who know me say that my life is like watching the Gospel unfold before their very eyes. I will follow Him through any and every storm, why? Because… He is the only Way, Truth, and Life!! Praising Jesus Christ for new life!!

Yes, I’ve given my life to Christ. Want to be stronger, more obedient, filled with the Holy Spirit, that His fruit may be seen constantly in me.

Dear Berni,
So so true , I was guilty of this one . I thought if I led a tidy life went to church or chapel harvest festival , carol service and perhaps at Easter I would go to heaven . Until I realized what it meant to be a born again Christian. This was when I learnt , that if I believed Jesus Christ was the Son God and died for my sins , I will go to Heaven . Now I go to Chapel on the sabbath day , it’s like I am refueled on the living Word of God , ready to face the challenges of the week ahead .
Thanks Henry
