As we chug-a-lug on through life you and I, well it’s easy to get things out of perspective. To focus too much on the petty little things in the here and now, and lose sight of the big picture.

Isn’t it easy to get wrapped up in our own little narrow world, on how we feel, our needs, our wants, our little triumphs … and of course, our disappointments too?

In one sense it’s only natural, but at some point, you can end up crossing a line and becoming self-absorbed. Of course, we all have needs and things in our lives that require our attention. There’s nothing wrong with that. And yet somehow, the wealthier we become, the more prone we are to narrowing our gaze. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to become this pathetic little person on the treadmill of life, who never looks up beyond the next few steps.

That’s why it pays sometimes, just to stand back and look at the big picture. To think about the world and how it was made and where it’s headed … and how small our place in it really is.

Colossians 1:17 The Son was there before anything was made. And all things continue because of him.

The truth is that even as someone who believes in Jesus, it’s easy to lose sight of how great and mighty He really is. He Himself is before all things. And in fact, He holds everything together.

Your place in this world, my place in this world, sure, they’re important, but nothing is as important as Jesus. Nothing. And when we see our small place in that big context, it’s so much easier to get things back into a right perspective.

Jesus. The alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Dear Producer of FRESH,

I just want to say a very big thank you that you are able to bring to me each day such a meaningful word. It LIFTS, ENCOURAGES, THOUGHT PREVOKES, always.

Would it please, please, be possible to reduce or preferably remove the background ‘music’. I don’t know if it is just me, however I find it both annoying and distracting.

As a wider point, I have noticed the worship in many churches just too loud, almost as if the guys in the ‘band’ are there for that and Jesus is to take second place.

Please, Please, Please do not take my comments negatively!

Blessings to you
