Romans 12:6-7 We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach.

One of the things that drives me crazy, is when people come at the Bible with denominational baggage. Because when you do that, you can end up missing the whole point.

I’ve heard people say that God doesn’t speak through prophets anymore these days. That happened in the past, but not these days. Question is: what does God say?

Romans 12:6-7 We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach.

And this isn’t the only place in the New Testament that you’ll find a reference to prophecy. In fact, any unbiased reading of the New Testament can leave you with no conclusion other than the fact that the gift of prophecy is alive and well.

Just after I became a Christian, I felt God calling me to speak His Word into people’s lives. Man, I was raring to go. But I’d only been a Christian for like, five minutes. One day during a worship time, a man called Mark gave me a nudge and said, “Look I don’t know what it means, but I just feel God wants me to tell you He’s not in any hurry.”

Just as well, because it was another eight years before God had done all He needed to do in me, to prepare me for what I’m doing now. Did Mark look like a prophet – thus sayeth the Lord!? Not at all! But if he hadn’t given me that prophecy when he did, I simply wouldn’t be here with you now. God’s prophets are alive and well. Don’t ignore them. Listen to them.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
