Whenever someone comes to me with a problem that’s eating away at them, my first question, always, is how often do you open your Bible? The most common response? An awkward silence as they look down at their feet.

One of the things that I love about God’s Word, the Bible, is that there are treasures in it that just keep on lighting up my days. I think that if God gave me another thousand years to live here on this Earth, I still wouldn’t run out of new things to discover in His Word.

Have a listen to this:

Psalm. 16:11 You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (NRSV)

Just when the day is dark, just when things are going against you, you stumble across a jewel like that and it puts everything back into perspective. You see, we get so caught up in things that the world has to offer and we can be so disappointed when those things don’t deliver.

The easiest thing to do amidst all the cares of this world, is to stop listening to God. It is an epidemic of monstrous proportions in the Kingdom of God, that God’s own people have forsaken His Word.

Why is it that so many so-called Christians have their Bibles sitting up on a shelf somewhere collecting dust? Why is that?

Imagine, you decide to open your Bible and you read that one verse:

You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

It’s a life-changer. Take the time to hear Him speak. Take the time to open your Bible. Take the time to drink in God’s love.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
