1 Peter 2:9 But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light.

The moment we give our lives to Jesus Christ, two important changes take place. Firstly, our status, who we are changes. And secondly, the purpose of our life changes, or at least, that’s what’s meant to happen.

Denmark and Australia have something very important in common. Well, not something, but someone.

Princess Mary of Denmark is an Aussie. She was a normal person with a normal job until one day, she met the visiting Prince Frederick … and the rest as they say, is history.

I can’t imagine what it must be like making the transition that she must have gone through, to become a member of a royal household. The culture shock would be quite unimaginable, not to mention that she had to learn to speak a whole new language. Young Mary – who is destined one day to be the Queen of Denmark – must have gone through quite a baptism of fire.

No, I can’t imagine being a royal. And yet, anybody who believes in Jesus is just that. Royalty. Hang on a minute, “Berni, what are you on about?”

1 Peter 2:9 But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light.

So, the Bible tells us that those of us who believe in Jesus are a chosen race, a holy nation, God’s own people. Children of the living God. It doesn’t get any more royal than that.

And as a royal, you have a very clear purpose in life. To proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called you out of darkness into this marvellous light.

Nothing more. Nothing less. Royalty.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Sometimes it takes a long time for something as amazing and to our small limited minds, unbelievable, as this this to sink in, in all of it’s reality. I suppose that for many, or most of us it will take until we actually walk through the gates of heaven for it to really become the absolute truth for us. I wonder, if it has, or how long it will take, for the reality of what has happened in Princess Mary’s life, to sink into her life in all of it’s fullness.
