1 Corinthians 12:4-7 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything. Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each one to help others.

Stress. It’s such a short word, but the moment you hear it, you know exactly what it means. Stress. It’s a global pandemic, and what’s more, some of it, not all of it but some of it, is self-inflicted. Seriously?

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by our situation and circumstances that we imagine that stress is completely unavoidable. But there’s many a time when you and I put ourselves under stress needlessly. So … why do we do that?

Look, there are going to be circumstances beyond our control that cause us stress – the loss of a loved one, a difficult boss at work, financial problems, health issues. Those things are stressful.

So why then do we labour under other people’s expectations of us, letting them dictate who they think we should be, what they think we should be good at?

Why do we imagine somehow that even God has unrealistic expectations of us? That somehow we need to be more than He made us to be? Do you see how easy it is to stress out over what we think others (including God) expect of us?

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything. Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each one to help others.

Come on … get a grip. You are who He made you to be. Nothing is going to change that. And all you have to do is to the best you that you can possibly be – nothing more, nothing less.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
