Ephesians 3:13 Yes, at one time you were far away from God, but now in Christ Jesus, you are brought near to him. You are brought near to God through the blood sacrifice of Christ.

Sometimes it feels as though God is a million miles away. Even if you believe in Jesus, it’s a very real feeling. It’s how we perceive things and you know what they say – our perception is our reality.

Have you ever been locked out of your own home? You walk out and just as the door slams closed, you remember, “Oh the keys!” They’re only just on the other side of the door … so near, yet so far.

But sometimes, sometimes the opposite is true. It’s more a case of so far, yet so near.

For years it felt like religious people were telling me how far I’d strayed from God. You’re doing this. You’re not doing that. The more they shouted at me, the further I ran. At least that’s how it felt. Deep down I knew that some of the things I was doing were stupid, but that’s why I didn’t want a bar of God. I was scared.

And yet when He started speaking to me, as He does with all of us at some point, it was more of a gentle, small voice … He wasn’t shouting at me like a religion. He was kind of saying, I forgive you. My Son died for you. I’m so near to you. So near. For years I’d been thinking so far. And all that time, He was so near. All along I had the key – I just couldn’t find the door.

Ephesians 2:13 Yes, at one time you were far away from God, but now in Christ Jesus, you are brought near to him. You are brought near to God through the blood sacrifice of Christ.

That’s why He sent Jesus for you and me – to open the door, to show us how near God really is to us. Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
