Jeremiah 17:14 Lord, if you heal me, I surely will be healed. Save me, and I surely will be saved. Lord, I praise you!

When something in our lives is hurting, our very human instinct is to do whatever it takes to stop the pain. But our “whatever it takes” and God’s “whatever it takes” can be two entirely different things.

Pain comes into our lives in a whole bunch of different ways. Conflict, rejection, loneliness … the list goes on. And yet all too often when we do experience pain, we’re so focused on relieving the symptoms that we forget all about the underlying disease.

You get a headache; you want to pop an aspirin to stop the pain. And that’s okay to a point, unless the pain is a symptom of something much more serious.

An aspirin isn’t going to cure a brain tumour, right?

In this world of instant gratification it seems that we’re always looking for the quick fix – the band aid solution. The wife’s not happy with me; buy her some flowers. That’ll fix it.

But some problems run much deeper and God invariably wants to heal the disease, not just treat the symptom.

Inevitably pain in our lives is a sign that something’s wrong. And when you take that something to Jesus, you’ll find the healing that you really need. It may not play out quite the way you’d like. It may take longer than you’d hoped. It may not yield precisely the results you’d planned. But undoubtedly, God’s healing will prove much better than anything that you could have dreamed up.

Jeremiah 17:14 Lord, if you heal me, I surely will be healed. Save me, and I surely will be saved. Lord, I praise you!

When God heals you, you surely will be healed. When He saves you, you surely will be saved. And seriously, when that happens, His praise will surely be in your lips.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

What true words, my pain from my husband leaving me nearly three years ago can still cause emormous pain, just the other day it just came on, I prayed to God our Abba Father to heal me, I contacted my Pastor and she prayed over me and I felt the pain go. As I stand for restorage of our marriage I have many many doubts that this is God’s will, but I hold onto Jesus word,, “Ask anything in my name and my Father will give to you” (Not quoted exactly). Thank you Bernie for your wonderful words.
