Philippians 4:6,7 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

It’s one thing to believe that this thing that we call “the Bible” is God’s Word, that it’s true. That’s one thing. But it’s quite another to believe that what God has to say, is actually true in my life, and in yours. That’s a whole deeper level of faith.

Do you believe that God means what He says? Yes or no. Because if you do, then it turns out He has some pretty outrageous things to say.

I was once at a small Bible study group and we were looking at this passage:

Philippians 4:6,7 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Okay, so we talked about that for a while, everyone shared their worries, their concerns, their fears. Great. And after twenty minutes or so, the group leader summed it all up something like this: “Sure, that’s great, but we’re all still going to have worries in life, aren’t we?”

At which point I shouted: “No!!!” They all turned and looked at me. “What is this guy on about?”

“Well,” I continued, “what this says is that we’re not supposed to worry about anything. And if we take the time that we would have spent worrying, and instead, pour our hearts out to God, His promise is that He’ll replace the worry with the most unbelievable peace. In fact, He’ll actually guard our hearts and minds to prevent worry from entering them. Do you believe that or not?”

And that’s the question that each one of us should be asking ourselves. Am I prepared to take God at His Word? Do I believe that His Word is true in my life, or not? Well, do you?

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

This morning devotion has encouraged me a lot. I think most times as Christians that is something we struggle with. Indeed the more we hear God’s word the more things become clearer.

Berni, I’ve always enjoyed your devotions, but today it hit home. Thank you, in your devotion , take GOD at his word, you made me stop an smell the coffee .Your final words,Well Do You, came across so strongly I went back an read them 2 more times. God’s timing was spot on, as I am watching it rain again today, wondering if the crops will ever get planted. Thank you again for that little nudge which I needed today. Your brother through Christ !
