Acts 20:25-27 And now I know that none of you, among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom, will ever see my face again. Therefore I declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like having anything shoved down my throat. Whether it’s religion, or a political view or this ideology or that dogma, or this belief system or that way of looking at the world. Whatever it is. None of us likes having someone else’s views forced on us. We like to make up our own minds, right?

And in this world, more and more, people want to hear about Jesus less and less. In many places the church doesn’t have such a good reputation. It’s no longer central to society the way it was fifty years ago, and what, with all the scandals and sexual abuse that’s been going on, there’s no wonder that people aren’t knocking down the doors to get in.

It’s no wonder that people reject, en masse, what they see to be the out-dated, irrelevant and downright dangerous belief system called “Christianity”. And in many respects, I don’t blame them.

But now, you see, we have a problem. Because unless someone at some point, had shared the love of God with us, unless someone, at some point had told you and me about Jesus, where would we be?

The Apostle Paul puts it this way:

And now I know that none of you, among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom, will ever see my face again. Therefore I declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. (Acts 20:25-27)

Okay, perhaps we’re not all called to be apostles and evangelists like Paul. I get that.

But sometimes those of us who believe in Jesus are a bit shy and wary about sharing our faith with someone else. And sure – we’re not in the business of beating people over the head with a Bible … at least, I’m not.

Yet there are times when I just know that this is the time to share something of my faith. Most people choke at that point – I don’t know why that is. Fear of rejection or ridicule? Fear of failure? Whatever.

But imagine, just imagine the Holy Spirit gives you a nudge and says – now’s the time. And you ignore that signal … but tonight, tonight that person dies. It’s too late then.

Well, it’d be like having blood on your hands, wouldn’t it?

Think of the people in your life today, who don’t yet know Jesus. Take them to God in prayer and ask Him to show you, to lead you, to prompt you just at the right time to share the saving love of Jesus with them. Ask Him to open the door, and give you the courage to walk through.

Because one day, it’ll be too late.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
