1 Corinthians 15:3-6 I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say; that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say; and that he appeared to Peter and then to the twelve apostles. After that Christ appeared to more than 500 other believers at the same time. Most of them are still living today, but some have died.

What is the gift of eternal life worth to you? Think about it. Just take your focus off all the ups and downs at play in your life today and focus on the gift of eternal life. What’s it actually worth?

Hopefully, the promise of eternity in God’s presence is worth rather a lot to you. But it’s not a gift that’ll be handed to everyone. It won’t be given to you simply because everyone else liked you, or thought you were smart and honest and decent. It won’t be given to you just because you didn’t steal or lie or hate or kill.

The gift of eternal life is only for the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died to pay for their sins and that He rose again to give them a new life which will go on for all eternity. This is how the Apostle Paul put it all those years ago:

1 Corinthians 15:3-6 I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say; that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say; and that he appeared to Peter and then to the twelve apostles. After that Christ appeared to more than 500 other believers at the same time. Most of them are still living today, but some have died.

Paul calls these “the most important truths” … and they are. I know, I know, you have so much else going on in your life at the moment. But unless you put your faith in Jesus, that gift of eternal life will not be yours.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
