Resurrection Sunday. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. What a great celebration: From sin to salvation: From death to life: Let’s spend just a few minutes together today to wrap our hearts around all that. As a young IT consultant many years ago, I learned early on that you talked about “problems” with your clients. They were issues, considerations, opportunities. Those things sounded much nicer than “problems”.

Today I guess I’m what society would call a minister, although it’s not a term I warm to. And my clientele are people like you. I’ve heard it said that in this day and age, I shouldn’t use the word “sin”. Foibles, weaknesses, limitations … they sound so much nicer than “sin”. But when it comes right down to it, you and I know there’s stuff we say and do and think that’s just plain wrong. It doesn’t matter how we dress them up, they rob us of life. Sin is the age-old problem of humanity, plain and simple. But today is Resurrection Sunday. Today we’re celebrating the fact that on the other side of the cross – on the other side of God’s forgiveness – is a new life, an eternal life, a life of freedom, peace, power, joy … because Christ is risen, amen?!

Romans 6:23 When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today is a day of huge celebration because by God’s unmerited, unearned favour towards any man, woman and child who would put their trust completely in what Jesus did for them, a new life awaits: A life of resurrection power: A life that will go on in God’s presence without end: That’s what today is all about.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
