What About Jesus?

Hebrews 12:1,2 We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall. We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.

I wish I could tell you that following Jesus is an easy thing to do. It’s not. It never was and it never will be. It’s not a journey for the faint-hearted. But then at some point, we all end up feeling faint of heart.

There comes a point in everybody’s faith journey, where we want to give up, to quit. This is just too hard. It can’t possibly be worth it.

Let me tell you, you’re not the only one. Because more often than not, that’s the devil working in your soul to draw you way from Jesus. What normally happens, is that there’s some hidden sin, some chink in our armour, which he knows only too well. So he waves all those other successful, powering-on-with-God Christians out there under your nose and tells you that you’re not good enough. So it’s time for us to do something about this.

Those strong Christians out there are your example. Run the race and don’t quit. And whatever sin is making you fall, give it to Jesus. He loves you, He died for you and He is your answer. Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
