Mark 8:22-26 Jesus and his followers came to Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch the man. So Jesus held the blind man’s hand and led him out of the village. Then he spat on the man’s eyes. He laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see now?” The man looked up and said, “Yes, I see people. They look like trees walking around.” Again Jesus laid his hands on the man’s eyes, and the man opened them wide. His eyes were healed, and he was able to see everything clearly.

Have you ever found yourself praying for a breakthrough, praying for a miracle, and yet when God comes along and starts working in your life, it’s not what you expected? Hang on God, this isn’t what I asked for!

You know how we all want things to be just the way we like them, just the way we expect them to be? Mothers should be perfect. Children should be well behaved. Bosses should be kind. Leaders should be wise, and God … well, what do we want Him to be? We want God to be loving, kind, faithful, powerful and … come on, let’s be honest … predictable. Am I right?

Mark 8:22-26 Jesus and his followers came to Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch the man. So Jesus held the blind man’s hand and led him out of the village. Then he spat on the man’s eyes. He laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see now?” The man looked up and said, “Yes, I see people. They look like trees walking around.” Again Jesus laid his hands on the man’s eyes, and the man opened them wide. His eyes were healed, and he was able to see everything clearly.

Can you believe that? Jesus actually spat on the man’s eyes. That makes me feel just a bit queasy. And in any case, I don’t want my God behaving like that. I want Him to be conventional, predictable.

Yet right in that moment, do you really think that that blind beggar cared that Jesus had just spat in his eyes? Of course he didn’t! Within a few minutes he was blind no more. He could see! Hallelujah!

So don’t be surprised when the Lord kicks off His next miracle in your life in an unconventional way.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Beth Day

I just want to thank you for putting the Webinar on your site. I signed up for it, but was unable to be online at the time of its original airing, so I watched it early this AM instead. I especially want to say to you, Berni, “Thank you SO MUCH for your honest admission that you are unable to memorize verses” because I have the same problem, plus am unable to learn a verse’s address.

I know what the Bible says, I just can’t tell you where to find it! Knowing that you are the same is extremely comforting. Anyway, I hope you can do another one fairly soon, and that I will be able to watch that one! May God bless you and your ministry
