Download audio fileWhen was the last time that you were accused of something that you didn’t do? It wasn’t a very nice feeling was it? So, how did you respond? And looking back on it, how might you have responded with the benefit of hindsight?
From time to time we’re going to be accused of things we didn’t do. You’ve been there, I’ve been there and it’s never a whole lot of fun. And often times, it’s because the way that you’re living your life, as a Christ-follower, offends people.
Yep, Christians are often falsely accused.
Where I come from we call it mud-slinging. And whenever someone throws mud at you, some of it’s sure to stick. If people hurl unfounded accusations at you, someone’s going to believe them, no matter how false they are. It’s not fair, but that’s just the way it is.
It’s precisely what happened to Jesus and it’s going to happen to anyone committed to following in His footsteps.
So when it does happen, how are you going to react? What are you going to do about it?
One option is to sling some mud right back at your accusers. Here’s another option.

So, the other option is just to keep on doing what’s right. Just to keep on living a good life. Just to keep on shining the light.
Yes, you can go on the offensive by slinging mud, or you can go on the defensive by arguing and justifying yourself, or you can simply let your good works do the talking for you.
