Ephesians 4:29 When you talk, don’t say anything bad. But say the good things that people need—whatever will help them grow stronger. Then what you say will be a blessing to those who hear you.

The truth is that the words we speak are incredibly powerful. They can either build people up or tear them down. So might I ask you today, what words do you choose to speak?

The pace of life has really cranked up over recent years. In this busy, transactional world in which we live, it’s more about getting things done rather than lingering over a cuppa and building relationships.

And that rapid-fire, transactional approach is having a huge impact on how we speak to each other. We’re becoming more abrupt – even rude – in our speech, just so we can get everything done that we think we need to get done today.

So what we say and perhaps even more importantly, how we say it, eats away at our relationships – at work, in our marriages, with our children, with the few friends that we may have left.

Come on, when was the last time that you felt undervalued or rejected, simply because of how someone spoke to you … someone, who frankly should have known better?

Ephesians 4:29 When you talk, don’t say anything bad. But say the good things that people need—whatever will help them grow stronger. Then what you say will be a blessing to those who hear you.

What if you and I only ever said things with the purpose of building people up and making them stronger; with the purpose of encouraging and supporting them – even when we have to talk about the difficult things?

If that’s how you spoke to others, what impact would it have on your relationships? Come on …

When you talk, don’t say anything bad. But say the good things that people need—whatever will help them grow stronger.

Words are powerful. Use the words that you speak to be a blessing.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
