Becoming a Volunteer

The ministry of Christianityworks reaches far and wide. And whilst we have a small paid staff, we rely on many faithful volunteers, without whom we simply wouldn’t be able to do all that God has called us to do.

.

Volunteer turns 100People like Phyllis who, until age 102, was  helping each month with our supporter mailings by stamping over 1,000 envelopes.

And in the UK, we have another volunteer – Sarah – who helps type transcripts of each of our radio programs. Sarah is legally blind, yet she is one of our very best transcription volunteers.

.

Wow! So … the only qualifications for becoming a volunteer are:

  • being a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ
  • being hard working and reliable (this is very important), and
  • having one of the skills that we are currently in need of.

So, check out the list below. If you feel that you fit the bill on one or more, then contact us. We would love to hear from you.

PRAYER PARTNER – LOCATion Independent

Every day many, many people visit our prayer site – PowerfulPrayer.org to request prayer. There are so many things going on in their lives and we know that prayer works. In fact, as Berni Dymet keeps saying … the only sort of prayer the Bible teaches about is the sort that has powerful results.

With so many prayer requests coming in, we need help both in praying for people and in leaving encouraging comments on their prayer requests (which they receive back in their email inbox).

If you are called to pray, if you have the time to pray regularly – then why not become a Powerful Prayer Volunteer – you can choose how many people you’d like to pray for each week. Interested? Find out more here.

This is the greatest volunteer need of Christianityworks right at this moment.

Office Assistant – Eastern Suburbs of Sydney

Each month from our office in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney (conveniently located just metres from Bondi Junction Railway Station) we undertake a mailout to our many friends and supporters across the country. The sorting, collating, folding and mailing of these letters is performed by a small, hard-working and dedicated band of local volunteers.

We also, from time to time throughout each month, require assistance in clerical and administrative tasks.

If you live within easy travel distance of Bondi Junction and have a day or half-day that you can give on a regular, reliable basis, we would love to hear from you.

Proof Reader – Location Independent

Christianityworks produces many publications – booklets, books and ePublications.  These are written by our ceo + Bible teacher Berni Dymet. They require meticulous proof reading, and generally, we have several people proof read each publication.

Proof reading is a very specific skill – requiring a strong command of the English language, an eye for detail and the ability to accept the individual approach and style of the author.

If you have these skills, we would love to hear from you. This work is “ad hoc” on an as required basis and, so long as you have access to email, can be performed anywhere in the world.

We do not accept every offer of volunteer work. Sometimes, our needs in the areas outlined above are fully met.

And, of course, the tasks performed by volunteers, whilst unpaid, are critical to the operations of the ministry. We therefore need to ensure that each individual has the skills, the heart for the ministry, and the dedication and reliability required to meet these demands.

Whilst we greatly appreciate all offers of assistance, we have in the past relied on people who “failed to deliver”. So we hope that you will understand that there is a process of selection and confirmation of all volunteers.
