Right around the world in cities, towns, villages, isolated rural areas, in desolate places even, life goes on. Something amazing might happen in one place, but everywhere else it’s business as usual.

Over the years, I’ve been to many places. From Visakhapatnam in India to Kigoma in Tanzania, from Vienna to Vancouver, from … well, you get the drift. And whenever I land somewhere and walk the streets, it always strikes me how life there just goes on – around the globe, people doing life in so many different ways, different cultures, different clothes, cuisines, sights, smells, sounds.

And life in this place tends to be completely oblivious to life happening half a world away in another place. Life in my place goes on, largely ignorant of life over in your place. That’s how it was for these men:

Luke 2:8 That night, some shepherds were out in the fields near Bethlehem watching their sheep.

They were just doing life the way they always had. But then …

Luke 2:9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord was shining around them.

A babe had slipped into the world that night in a little backwater called Bethlehem; in tiny little stable because there was no room for Him at the inn. But then, BOOM, that apparently insignificant birth of Jesus (a common name back then) interrupted the lives of those shepherds in the most spectacular way.

And that spectacular Jesus interruption of God becoming a man to save us from ourselves, that global interruption, has been going on ever since.

#NoteToSelf: Let Jesus interrupt your life!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
