Download audio fileYou know what it’s like when your patience is running thin – someone or some situation is getting on your nerves and you can just feel the steam starting to come out of your ears. We’ve all been there.
Speaking as a reforming perfectionist, that uncomfortable feeling of rising anger is not one that I enjoy, and it’s one that, to this day, I have to guard against.
Yes, as we’ve seen these past few days, God’s given us (or at least He’s prepared to give us) all the power we need in order to live a godly life. But still, obviously, it’s on us to cooperate with Him.

We talked about exercising self-control yesterday. It’s not easy, right? But then, self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, as is patience. And when you think about it, patience is simply the exercising of self-control over an extended period. Oh great, really? Yeah, really.
I don’t find that easy, so what I do in those moments when I can feel my temperature rising is … I pray. Lord, please give me patience.
And with all my heart, can I tell you He has never once failed to show up. To your self-control … add patience.
