Romans 5:9,10 We have been made right with God by the blood sacrifice of Christ. So through Christ we will surely be saved from God’s anger. I mean that while we were God’s enemies, he made friends with us through his Son’s death. And the fact that we are now God’s friends makes it even more certain that he will save us through his Son’s life.

Have you ever been betrayed by a friend? It’s a terrible thing. I can tell you, the deepest scar that I bear is from the betrayal of a friend. It took many, many years for the wound to heal … and still today, that scar is part of who I am.
In truth, we’ve all betrayed God – in our thoughts, words and deeds. So, to heal that relationship, He Himself stepped into our world to bear our scars. As we saw yesterday …

As the Prophet Isaiah wrote many years earlier, through His scars we’ve been healed. But why? What was God’s ultimate goal?
Romans 5:10 I mean that while we were God’s enemies, he made friends with us through his Son’s death. And the fact that we are now God’s friends makes it even more certain that he will save us through his Son’s life.
God’s aim was, and still is, to reconcile us to Himself; to bring us close; to bridge the gap by annulling our sin through Christ’s sacrifice on that Cross … that we may be His friends.
While we were God’s enemies, he made friends with us through his Son’s death. Please, don’t forget to invite this Friend to your table.
