2 Corinthians 3:17,18 The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And our faces are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Our faith, yours and mine, doesn’t exist in isolation from our circumstances; from society; from what’s going on around us. Far from it. Our faith is meant to be part of everyday life … and that places us in something of a quandary.

Here it is … here’s the question I think we should be asking ourselves often: Is my faith more a reflection of my culture, my political views, my socio-economic circumstances, or does my faith reflect Jesus into this world? In other words, which way round is it?

For many, it’s the wrong way round. The faith of many a Christian is shaped more by politics and money than any of us would ever like to admit. What do you think? As you contemplate that, here’s how it’s actually meant to work:

2 Corinthians 3:17,18 The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And our faces are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

In other words, rather than being shaped by prevailing social thought trends and the decaying morality that inevitably accompanies them, we’re meant to be moulded, transformed by God to be more and more like Him. Sadly, that’s the complete opposite of what’s happening in many a Christian’s life.

And if it happens as it should, God’s glory, more and more, shines out of us as a reflection of our faith rather than be watered down by what’s happening out there. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we’re being changed to be like him.

That’s how it’s meant to work, and …

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
