Hebrews 12:27-29 … everything that was created will be destroyed—that is, the things that can be shaken. And only what cannot be shaken will remain. So we should be thankful because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And because we are thankful, we should worship God in a way that will please him. We should do this with respect and fear, because our God is like a fire that can destroy us.

Download audio fileThe brutal onslaught of this world against the faith of Christians has been going on for two thousand years. But it’s reaching fever pitch. as more Christians were martyred in the last hundred years than in the whole 19 centuries combined before that.
The arguments of the world against the Christian faith can seem so strong. Whether it be on the battle grounds of sexuality or the sanctity of life young and old, or simply the audacious arguments of atheism aimed as artillery against a highly imperfect church, it ain’t easy to be a humble, Bible-believing Christian in the 21st century, have you noticed?
But let’s just stand back for a moment and get things in perspective:
Hebrews 12:27-29 … everything that was created will be destroyed—that is, the things that can be shaken. And only what cannot be shaken will remain. So we should be thankful because we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And because we are thankful, we should worship God in a way that will please him. We should do this with respect and fear, because our God is like a fire that can destroy us.
Every stronghold setup against the kingdom of God, every argument fired against it, will one day be destroyed. In fact, everything that was created will be destroyed and the one thing that will remain is the completely and utterly unshakeable kingdom of God.
So in the midst of this battle (which, in Christ by the way, has already been won) your job and mine isn’t to worry, isn’t to cower at the onslaught, isn’t to lose hope – but to worship God, to respect Him and fear Him.
So take heart. The kingdom of God cannot be shaken. Take heart.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
