Matthew 6:31,32 Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ That’s what those people who don’t know God are always thinking about. Don’t worry, because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.

Download audio fileAllow me, if you will, to get you to cast your mind back to the last time you were afraid of something. I mean seriously afraid, to the point that it consumed your every waking moment. So here’s the question: how did you handle that? What did you do with your fear?
We all go through times of fear, when there’s a brooding sense of impending doom in our hearts.
Now I’m not naturally a fearful person but it’s happened to me over the years too, because it happens to all of us.
So you can struggle along on your own for a while but that doesn’t really work all that well. Or perhaps you seek help which could work, yet so often others simply don’t understand.
Then you’re left with the question – what do I do with my fear? Do I put on a brave face but still let it eat away at me on the inside?
Now I don’t want to sound corny because I’m not naturally a corny person … but these days I take my fear to Jesus. It’s that simple. And this isn’t some cop out or religious crutch. To the contrary, it’s a step of faith to take Jesus at His Word:
Matthew 6:31,32 Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ That’s what those people who don’t know God are always thinking about. Don’t worry, because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.
When everything’s stacked against you, when the road ahead looks dangerous, when you’re at risk, that’s precisely the moment in which your faith is being tested.
The question is, will you take your fear to Jesus? It turns out that it’s not as big a leap of faith as you may think … because your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
