John 10:4,5 He brings all of his sheep out. Then he goes ahead of them and leads them. The sheep follow him, because they know his voice. But sheep will never follow someone they don’t know. They will run away from him, because they don’t know his voice.”

As an ex-military man, I can tell you that there’s nothing more satisfying than marching off the parade ground after a large parade knowing that, together with your fellow soldiers, you’d executed the drill with absolute precision.
In winter, we’d wear dark blue uniforms and white gloves. And wow, when 450 white gloves flashed across the front of those uniforms at exactly the same time, it was a sight to behold. When 450 sets of spit-polished boots crashed into the pavement at exactly the same time, the cracking sound fairly blew your mind.
But all that requires the preparedness of each soldier to follow their leaders. We take for granted, but when you’re one of those soldiers, I tell you, it’s hard work.
Imagine what a shambles that parade would be if each soldier decided to do their own thing; if they adopted a laissez-faire attitude toward their leaders. Jesus said this:
John 10:4,5 [The good shepherd] brings all of his sheep out. Then he goes ahead of them and leads them. The sheep follow him, because they know his voice. But sheep will never follow someone they don’t know. They will run away from him, because they don’t know his voice.”
Why are there so many Christians wandering through life with a laissez-faire attitude towards their Leader, wandering all over the place?
Jesus. Listen for His voice, obey Him, follow Him.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
